How do I get diesel fuel smell out of my washing machine?
Q. My husband got diesel fuel on some of his clothes and then washed them and now, not only do the clothes still smell like diesel but, now, so does my washing machine. Can anyone suggest a way to get the smell out of my machine and the clothes?

A. We get that every so often in the laundromat where I work... We spray pine sol and wipe out the washer then leave the door open to air out. Do a hot load of towels, and the smell is gone.

Is there any difference between petrol or diesel turbochargers?
Q. I have a petreol powered car and need to replace its worn out turbo, I happen to have a turbo from a diesel cat gathering dust. Research so far shows that the diesel turbo will produce 8 psi of boost without modification whereas the turbo on my produced 5 psi before I modified it to run at around 8 psi. I ask the question because petrol cars reach higher revs and reach them faster than diesels.So would the tubo be spinning faster than it is designed to if used on a petrol engine?

A. the deisel turbo is designed to run at lower rpms and will actually hurt performance above 3500 rpms on your gas(petrol) engine it will give you fast spoolups but you will watch your boost drop significantly when your engine reaches rpms above that of a deisel

A. Both types of engine have cylinders that fill with the vapour or spray of their respctive fuel, but this is ignited in different ways and under different conditions. You are right that diesel engines do not have spark plugs. Fundamentally, both types of engine burn the relevant fuel, which makes the pistons expand, pushes a section of a crank down and gets the engine turning. The rotary motion is transfered via the gearbox to the wheels and the car drives. So the answer to your question is really that they propel the vehicle in exactly the same way. Petrol engines usually rev higher than diesel engines, and the majority of the power is at the top end of the rev range, meaning that you get a quicker accelleration the higher engine is… [cont.]
